Two St. Paul Police officers were recognized for their courage and quick thinking after they rushed into a burning house to save the people inside.
The fire was intentionally started in the early morning hours of Jan. 3.
Sgt. Mike Whisler and Officer Rod Larson were on the scene even before fire crews.
Together the two broke down the door and helped five people get out including a mom and her two little kids.
"There was never a question of what are we going to do, or are we going to do this, it was a matter of getting it done," said Sgt. Whisler.
Officer Larson added, "I truly believe we were in the right place at the right time, any of our co-workers would have done the same thing."
St. Paul Police Chief Tom Smith said the recognition is long overdue, and said this was just an "unbelievable act of courage by both of these guys."
