(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Michael Thomas' best is record breaking.
The senior broke the Blooming Prairie school record for most receiving yards in a game a few weeks ago with 247. And that's just one highlight of his crazy good year.
"I just do the best I can, make the plays when I can," Thomas said.
"He's a very dangerous player. He's found different ways to find the end zone this year," said head coach Chad Gimbel. "Whether it's catching a touchdown pass, he's picked up a fumble, he's returned two punts for touchdowns, kickoff return for a touchdown, we're just waiting for that interception for a touchdown now."
Thomas' grit and determination on every down of football stems from an incident he can never forget. It's now the reason he says his perseverance is his strongest attribute.
"A couple years back I was playing first year as starting free safety and we were playing a big game against Waseca," said the senior. "They scored on me because I missed a tackle on the last play and I just don't want to end up being like that ever again."
It's not just his work ethic that makes Michael the core of this Blossoms team. It's much more than that. In fact, some would consider him very special.
"Michael's special in many ways," raved Coach Gimbel. "Number one is his personality, and he's really matured this year, he's really fun to talk to. He's got kind of an easygoing attitude, always seems to have a smile, and is pretty carefree. Sometimes we just have to tell Michael to stop talking because Michael just likes to enjoy life."
