(ABC 6 News) -- Two brothers are now are charged after being arrested for breaking into several vehicles in Rochester.
Police responded to two car break-ins yesterday near RCTC and the Quarry Hill Nature Center. After some quick investigative work, the suspects were arrested.
20-year-old Erik and 25-year-old Santos Vargas are charged with felony theft and possession of a controlled substance.
Police say after the break-ins were reported, the lead investigator decided to go to the Nature Center to view surveillance video which showed an attempt to break into another vehicle in the parking lot.
Police was able to track down a license plate number. They were then able to track the vehicle down near 7th avenue northwest and inside, officers found items matching the descriptions reported as stolen.
Officers even found items matching other car break-ins reported in early September.
"The officer, the lead investigator did a thorough job and decided to take it one step beyond what he could have done and gone to Quarry Hill and located the car later," said Lt. Mike Sadauskis of the Rochester Police Department.
During the vehicle search, police also found a small amount of cocaine in their possession.
