(ABC 6 News) -- A Rochester man has been convicted of sexually abusing a women at an assisted living facility.

35-year-old Thewodros Mamo was found guilty on one count of sexual abuse by a caregiver, which is a gross misdemeanor.

Mamo will be sentenced in January, and could face up to a year in jail, and a $3,000 fine.

It happened at the Madonna Meadows Assisted Living Facility in Rochester, back in 2010. Mamo worked there as a personal care assistant. He was accused of abusing two women he cared for. Both of those women testified in court last week. Olmsted County Attorny Mark Ostrem says cases like this are often hard to prosecute.

"I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday. So it's difficult for people to remember the specific details, the minute details that occured two years ago.

In a statement, the housing director at at Madonna Meadows says, they are saddened by the situation, and have reassured the residents and families that they have a zero tolerance for noncompliance. Also, all employees go through background tests.
