(ABC 6 NEWS) -- The John Marshall Rockets are playing fantastic volleyball.
"Really when we play, nobody can beat us,” said head coach Jessica Stellmaker. “They're just so powerful and there's so many choices we have to go to and our defense is phenomenal. It's exciting, it's what we wanted all year."
A lot of that has to do with Nicole Fautsch.
"We have another outlet to go to, we have more offense, we have more people to choose from, and she's part of the reason we are where we are right now," said Stellmaker.
Fautsch had 28 kills and 10 digs in the exchange club tournament this past weekend, helping get the Rockets the title. And the best part about her is she's only a freshman. It doesn't seem like it, though, when you watch her on the court.
"My role is, I have to be a leader on the court, even though I'm a freshman,” said Fautsch.
It hasn't always been easy for her though. Only being a 9th grader, it's tough to stand up to those older than you.
"It was hard at first at the beginning, because I wasn't sure how they would take it, if they would take it the right way, but now that I got to know them and I'm really good friends with them, it's been really great," Fautsch said.
"She has no fear, which in an athlete that's what you want. Age is not a factor for her at all,” Stellmaker said. “She's so gifted and she just goes out and does what she does."
