(ABC 6 News) -- A wanted fugitive is behind bars Thursday, but authorities say the arrest didn't come easily.
32-year-old Aaron Anderson was arrested after a high-speed chase in Steele County Wednesday night.
It all started when deputies spotted a stolen vintage corvette. They say Anderson was driving and led them on a 16 mile chase with speeds more than 100 miles per hour. He was finally arrested after he crashed the vehicle in a field.
"Once the stop was initiated he did exactly what his past history would indicate he would do, essentially he turned that stolen motor vehicle into a 4,000 pound bullet that put every member of the public in his path at risk," says Tom Claymon with the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office.
Anderson is wanted in Olmsted County on more than a dozen felony charges. Authorities say he'd stolen a car and led police on a chase there and in 2006 he was also arrested for doing a similar thing in Dodge County.
Anderson is now facing new charges in Steele County after being arrested there. Once charged, he will be transferred to Olmsted County to face his original charges.
