(ABC 6 News) -- The arrival of a high risk patient in Austin Thursday afternoon, prompted a hospital lockdown.

In a statement from Mayo Clinic Health System to ABC 6 News, the patient arrived in a vehicle this afternoon, and as a precaution, the hospital was placed in a lockdown.

Mower County Sheriff Therese Amazi tells ABC 6 that the lockdown was a precaution, because there was a shooting, and they did not know the whereabouts of the suspects at the time.

The lockdown took place from about 1:30pm until 2pm.

Amazi said that the shooting took place Northeast of Austin in a rural part of Mower County, and that two suspects are now in custody.  She says the victim was transported to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The Mower County Sheriff's office says they'll be releasing more details Friday. Stay with ABC 6 News for the latest information.
