ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The man accused of killing a teenager with his SUV as she sat waiting for a bus in St. Paul has been found guilty of vehicular homicide.

A Ramsey County judge rendered his decision Wednesday in the case against Carlos Viveros-Colorado. The defendant had opted for a trial by a judge, not a jury. The defendant struck and killed 16-year-old Clarisse Grime and injured her boyfriend, 17-year-old Eduardo Vasquez as they sat on a grassy embankment July 5.

Viveros-Colorado was convicted of criminal vehicular homicide and criminal vehicular injury. He claimed he had numbness in his leg and accidentally accelerated just before hitting the couple.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press (http://tinyurl.com/ao3xkjy ) reports Judge John Van de North told the defendant it wasn't an accident, but a very serious mistake in judgment.
