(ABC 6 NEWS) -- A 19-year-old Blooming Prairie man is charged with two felonies after authorities say he robbed a gas station at gunpoint.
Bobby Smitty is charged with first degree aggravated robbery and second degree assault with a dangerous weapon. He made his initial appearance in Steele County Court Monday.
Smitty was arrested Saturday after authorities say he robbed Casey's General Store in Blooming Prairie. That happened just after one o'clock Saturday morning. Three employees were in the store at the time. One managed to set off an alarm. Police say Smitty took off without getting any money. He was wearing a mask, but authorities say one of the employees knew who he was.
Law enforcement officers from several agencies set up a perimeter around the store, but they weren't able to find the suspect. They then went to a home where Smitty is known to spend time and found him here. Police say he had clothing that matched the description given by witnesses and the gun they believed was used in the robbery was also found.
Smitty is set to be back in court December 17th
