(ABC 6 News) -- Hundreds in Owatonna gathered for their annual holiday parade Thursday night. The perfect kick off to the holiday season.
"It's fun!" shouted out 6 year-olds Gracyn Durand and Faith Black. Hundreds lined the streets of downtown Owatonna for a parade that no one wanted to miss. “It's great!
All the children, the kids, this is what Christmas is all about!" said Owatonna resident Laurie Kozelka. It was fun for all ages, but for the kids, it was getting the chance to see one special red nose reindeer. "Rudolph!!" yelled a group of kids.
Of course, this guy too... "The best part is that I get to see Santa," said Faith.
"To see Santa, that’s the best part about this day," said 7 year-old Alex Black.
Santa was definitely the man of the hour. "They love it, and Santa comes, and the lights, and so it's just one thing after another!" said Kozelka.
Plus, there were plenty of other holiday characters to see, and a whole lot of colorful lights. "I like it when big floats go by and they have lights all over them, it’s fun," said Gracyn.
I think most of us can agree... "Holidays are cool and good!" said Alex.
The fun didn’t stop with the parade. At the end, was the annual "Lighting of the Lights" at Owatonna's Central Park.
