An East Bethel rancher who had faced 35 counts of animal cruelty, is now in the clear.

KSTP reported on the case against 72-year-old Lowell Friday in January when he was accused of neglecting his horses.

According to the Animal Humane Society, each horse had a body condition score between one and three; one is the lowest body condition score that can be given.

The complaint says the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center found the horses were emaciated and malnourished. Some had lice and parasites, and no visible fatty tissue.

KSTP has learned charges against Friday were dismissed.

We are reaching out to the Anoka County Attorney's office to learn more.

At this point, additional details have not been released.
