(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Voters have rejected a 15 million dollar referendum in the Rushford-Peterson School District.
School leaders tell us 993 people voted against the plan, while 658 voted in favor of it Wednesday.
The money would have allowed for a new elementary school building with renovations to the current building so it could house middle school students.
The last time a referendum passed in the district was 43 years ago. The current elementary school building is more than 100 years old.
