(ABC 6 News) -- Above and beyond. That’s the theme of the Rochester Magazine’s Extraordinary Rochester Women Award this year.
Four women with four different stories; all honored with the award. To receive the award, they had to be nominated. Clients, co-workers, friends, and family writing in the ways these women help their communities from being an extraordinary businesswoman to volunteer, caregiver, and just extraordinary overall.
All of the women grateful for the recognition.
"It made me cry when I first heard it. It was such a surprise," said Lori Miller-Beach, who was awarded, Extraordinary Overall.
"I don't like to be in the spotlight too much so this is a little bit out of the norm for me, but it's nice to be recognized,” added Wendy Reynolds, this year’s Extraordinary Caregiver.
“I just felt so honored that someone would take the time to nominate me,” said Kathy Johnson, Extraordinary Businesswoman.
"Ya know there's so many people that do so many wonderful things in this city and so it's a great honor to be recognized for that,” said Extraordinary Volunteer, Danielle Nikoai.
The women also appreciating the opportunity to give back to their communities.
"I just do the things I do because I love to do them,” said Miller-Beach.
Several other women that were nominated were at the ceremony. Many family and friends and even those that did the nominating were in attendance.
