(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Police in Rochester are investigating an attempted armed robbery at a liquor store.

It happened shortly after 7:30  Monday night at Woody's Liquor off Elton Hills Drive in Northwest Rochester. The owner says a man walked in, came to the counter with a bottle of booze, then said he was armed with a gun and demanded money.

"I said let me see it because I didn't believe him. Then he reached in his pants and pulled out a gun and pointed it at me," says Larry Woody of Woody's Liquor.

The owner pushed the wrong button and the cash register wouldn't open. He says that's when the man took off without getting any money.

The suspect is described as white with brown hair and a beard. He's believed to be in his 30's, white, and around 5'11". He was wearing a tan hooded sweatshirt and blue pants.
