(ABC 6 NEWS) -- For the first time since his position was terminated, former Pine Island City Administrator Abraham Algadi is speaking out.
"It's been difficult to say the least and we are contemplating a number of options considering what should our next steps be, obviously,” he said.
The newly elected Pine Island City Council voted to eliminate his position in the first meeting of the year because of budget reasons. Algadi says he was alerted the day of that meeting by a phone call from the mayor. He says the budget claims are groundless.
"Pine Island to me is a city I cared about and I do still care about. Frankly, I built it. I built a lot of programs and a lot of things that were put in place under my watch in building partnerships. We are a small town. We can only leverage good will by being good. We can only leverage investment by being stable. A political environment they provided, does not provide stability.”
Algadi says he has contemplated legal action, but says it’s difficult because of his family and how he feels about the city.
