(ABC 6 NEWS) -- It was a unique scene inside one Rochester store on this Valentine's Day. As part of a contest through radio station Laser 101.7, a winning couple got married, inside a pawn shop. It was themed "Once a Pawn a Wedding."
"It's Valentine's Day, and it’s time for ‘Once a Pawn a Wedding,’" said DJ Big Mark Clark at the start of the ceremony.
It was not your typical wedding ceremony. "Wasn’t my idea," laughed fiancé, now husband, Dennis "Cub" Lunde.
For this easy-going couple, it was a fun surprise learning they were the lucky winners. "Big Mark's like, ‘email me right away,’ and I was like 'oh my god!' and I went and told him," said fiancé, now wife, Julie Ohm.
On the most romantic holiday of the year the couple, engaged for the past four years, decided to tie the knot. "Friends, we are gathered here today to join Jules and Cub in matrimony," said Big Mark at the alter to ordain the wedding.
Though the setting was what some call, out of the ordinary, the spoken words were all the same. "I promise to love and support you Jules" said Dennis at the "alter.” "With this ring, I thee wed," he said.
"I promise to love and support you," recited Julie. "With this ring, I thee wed," she said.
"To see somebody actually make a commitment to one another and spend the rest of their lives together, it’s really fun," said Big Mark.
"The ceremony, the friends here, family joining in," said Julie. Friends, family, and yes, radio personalities, all there to support the now newlyweds.
There were 30 couples that signed up for the drawing. The wedding was broadcasted live on the radio. The winning couple received wedding bands from National Pawn, flowers, cake, a reception, and a stay at the Marriot Courtyard.
