(ABC 6 NEWS) -- A three mile pursuit in Rochester Thursday ended with the arrest of 2 people in connection with scrapper thefts.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department was called to the 2300 block of 40th Ave NE after a plow driver noticed a suspicious vehicle.
When officers arrived they noticed a male and a female near the woods. Deputies pursued the suspects for three miles through the woods and eventually arrested Mark Smith, 34 and Ann Steidler, 47 both of Rochester.
The suspect’s vehicle was filled with scrapping materials stolen from various sites including an abandoned farm and a nearby radio tower.
They are facing charges of 3rd degree burglary as well as trespassing. Authorities believe the suspects are also connected with a burglary back on January 25th.
The Rochester Police Department assisted with the arrest.
