(ABC 6 News) -- It's been a little over a year since their grand opening and now we've learned the Mayo Clinic Healthy Living store at the Mall of America will close by the end of the month.
Mayo Clinic made that announcement Friday. They tell ABC 6 News the clinic will not take part in the Mall of America's expansion plan for 2013, so they are closing.
In August 2011, ABC 6 News got a sneak peak of the store before the grand opening.
The store offers interactive learning about health and wellness, and resources for patients. We spoke with David Hayes, the medical director of the project right before it opened .
"We will be continuously changing this space, we'll be changing exhibits adding more information, it's about getting more information so we can find out what people want in a retail space," says Hayes.
Mayo Clinic says although they will be closing, they will look at their long term presence at the mall because they want to continue to serve the needs of patients in the Twin Cities.
