(ABC 6 News) -- Today is the first Friday of lent and many restaurants are switching up their menus this month to offer more options to their catholic patrons.

As you may know the catholic tradition says you can not eat meat on Friday's until Easter. So restaurants are trying to cook something up that everyone can have.

At Perkins family restaurant people are piling in to try their new shrimp menu.
"Make sure we have clam chowder on Friday's for everybody because they cant get enough of that either," said Sarah Krenzer of Perkins.

Those who are following tradition, still have 5 more Friday's to go.
