(ABC 6 NEWS) -- A Rochester man, who had previously served prison time for 2nd degree murder, is under arrest once again.

Rochester police say Leslie Treadwell, 59 threatened and assaulted a 24 year old female Monday afternoon.
Treadwell was convicted of killing Joseph Bale in 2001, but was recently released from prison.

According to Rochester Police Treadwell and the 24 year old female were riding in his car when they started fighting.

The victim says he then choked her and threatened her with a knife. When the female attempted to call police she says Treadwell took her phone from her.
Police say she was eventually able to calm Treadwell down. She then got out of the car and called police.

Police located and arrested Treadwell a few blocks away from where she was dropped off.

He is now facing felony assault charges as well as charges for terroristic threats.

Captain Brian Winters of the Rochester Police Department says while they take this case seriously they will treat it like any other.

"It's important obviously that we dot all our i's and cross all our t's, but we do that with every case, we've made sure that everyone knows his criminal history as well."

Treadwell was sentenced to 15 years for the murder of Bale, in which he said he killed in self-defense.
