Power has been restored to nearly 2,500 residents in south Minneapolis after a power outage Thursday night, according to Xcel Energy.
The outage effected areas in Uptown and Powderhorn Park neighborhoods, with the majority of the outages happening south of East 38th Street near Hiawatha Avenue.
The cause of the outage was a fault in an underground cable, said Patty Nystuen, spokeswoman for Xcel Energy.
The outage started at 6:40 p.m. Electricity was restored by 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nystuen said.
