(ABC 6 News) - The State Patrol confirms that one person is dead and another is in critical condition after the car they were in collided with a school bus near Adams.

Authorities say the person who died is 16-year-old Tess Landherr of Rose Creek. She was driving the car.

The State Patrol confirms 15-year-old Anna Bruggeman, also of Rose Creek, was critically injured.

An 8-year-old girl on the bus was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The accident took place around 3:20 Wednesday afternoon, near the intersection of Highway 56 and County Road 5.

Despite the serious injuries sustained by the people in the vehicle, the Adams School Superintendent's office tells ABC 6 News, neither the bus driver or any of the students on the bus were seriously hurt. The students were taken to a nearby fire hall to be picked up.

Stay with ABC 6 as we work to get updates on Bruggeman's condition.
