(ABC 6 NEWS) -- There's an old phrase - start 'em young.
"I've been wrestling since I was in kindergarten," Mayo senior Jake Hanson said.
Hanson definitely took that to heart.
"When I was two, I always wanted to get out on the mat because my (older) brother was a wrestler," Hanson said. "My dad and my mom would always have to chase me and take me off the mat."
Fast forward about 16 years, and Hanson is as dominant as they come in Section 1AAA, having advanced to state in each of the past four years.
"I've realized this is the last time I can go up to state and leave my mark," Hanson said.
"A lot of guys up there for their first time, they're really nervous. He's already been through it," Mayo wrestling coach Art Trimble said. "He's placed once, and he was disappointed last year, so he's out for revenge."
Hanson failed to place as a junior, but if he's nervous about this weekend, he's not showing it.
"Yeah, I'm relaxed. I'm just ready to go," Hanson said.
If anything, he likes his chances.
"After sections, I looked at my (state) bracket, and I realized I could make it to the finals," Hanson said.
