Pitbull Attack Leaves Four With Severe Injuries

(ABC 6 News) -- Four people in Mason City are recovering tonight after they were attacked by a pitbull.    

It happened around 12:30 Saturday morning. The Mason City Police got a call that a pitbull was attacking people. It happened in the 00 block of 9th Street Northwest. When police got to the scene, the dog had calmed down and they were able to contain it. Four people were bit and it’s believed they were all family members. Police also believe they knew the dog, but aren’t sure what started the incident.

"The wounds varied some were on the arm, some were on the leg, some were pretty severe, some were I'd call them all pretty severe to be honest with you,” said Lieutenant Logan Wernet.

Some of the victims were brought to the Mercy emergency room to be treated for those injuries. The dog is currently being held at a shelter while police figure out who the dog belongs to and if they could face any charges.
