(ABC 6 News) - It's that time of year again... girl scouts are knocking on doors in local neighborhoods with cookies in hand.
But a family of girl scouts in Albert Lea are taking it a step above stocking people's cookie jars. They're selling cookies in support of soldiers overseas. For the 2nd year in a row Shelby and Marissa Hanson are making it their goal to collect for Operation Cookie Care Package.
"Having a taste of home probably would just be a slice of heaven for them. So we just want to give back", says their mom, Jennifer Hanson. "People give back to us, we'd like to give back to them and this is just an easy way for everyone to give."
With cookie season ending in two weeks, the girls are just ten boxes shy of their goal of sending 200 boxes overseas.
