(ABC 6 NEWS) -- A semi driver is uninjured after his truck burst into flames in Rochester Tuesday night.
Crews responded to the scene just before 11 p.m. on the off ramp of Highway 52 at the 55th Street Northwest exit.
We're told the driver noticed the fire coming from the rear dual tires of his semi, and pulled off of the highway before the fire spread to the trailer.
According to Captain Chuck Solseth of the Rochester Fire Department--who was acting battalion chief during the fire--the blaze was a difficult one to put out since there is no hydrant system in the area.
Solseth says fire crews executed a rural fire operation by using water from fire engines, and needed to remove cargo from the truck and trailer to fully put out the fire.
The ramp was closed while firefighters battled the blaze.
The trailer is reported to have been filled with produce.
Damage is estimated to be around $100,000.
