NORTHWOOD, Iowa (AP) - The northern Iowa city of Northwood is looking for some policing help from the Worth County Sheriff's Office.

The Mason City Globe Gazette says Northwood's four-member force is down to two following the recent resignation of Chief Shayne Hoch. Hoch is leaving to become a deputy with Worth County.

Mayor Jane Bloomingdale has met with the Worth County Board of Supervisors. The supervisors indicate they'll support the idea but would leave it up to Sheriff Jay Langenbau.

Northwood is advertising for a new police chief. City Clerk Amber Julseth says the hiring of the fourth officer will wait until after the new chief is hired.

Northwood has about 2,000 residents and sits just a few miles from the Minnesota state line.
