(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Friday was a day many medical students in Rochester had waited for, for more than 8 years, Medical School Match Day.
Match Day is a day when those med students find out where they'll be performing their residencies.
"I've been waiting for this day since I started at Mayo in 2009, it was all a dream but now it's a reality," said Kemi Onajin.
Kemi Onajin is just one of the Mayo Medical Students waiting to find out where her career was about to take her.
Onajin, like many of the students, sat filled with mixed emotions.
"It's exciting, but I'm nervous at the same time."
All with the hope of being matched to their hospital of choice.
"I'd love to stay here at Mayo, so we'll see if that works out."
The students have put in more than 8 years of school to be here and they've also worked hard just to be matched.
"Apply, interviewing, preparing a final rank," said Dr. Alexandra Walanskyj.
As the envelopes are handed out one after another each student waits nervously to see where fate was about to take them.
Kemi was matched with her number one choice Mayo Clinic.
One hundred percent of the students were match this year. Thirty two percent of them will stay right here at the Mayo Clinic.
