(ABC 6 News) - Authorities say a routine traffic stop resulted in the discovery of a freezer bag full of marijuana and the arrest of the son of a former city official from Pine Island.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s department says deputies pulled over a vehicle in the 9000 block of Highway 63 North on Friday.

They say, upon closer inspection, they smelled marijuana and eventually found 80 grams of the drug packaged for sale.

Officers arrested 22-year-old Abraham Algadi.

Algadi is the son of former Pine Island City Administrator Abraham Algadi Sr. The elder Algadi did not want to comment when contacted over the phone Monday morning, but said he has not spoken to his son in a long time.

The younger Algadi is facing felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with the intention to sell.
