(ABC 6 NEWS) The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office has concluded its investigation into the tragic death of 2-year-old Benjamin “Bennie” Albert Fenton of rural New Richland.
The Sheriff says Benjamin's father was operating a Bobcat skid loader last Friday, moving snow for a friend, when his son was struck in the head with the arm controlling the bucket of the Bobcat.
Emergency responders tried to resuscitate the boy, but he was pronounced deceased at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
An autopsy was conducted by the Ramsey Medical Examiner’s Office which determined the injuries, the scene and the father’s statement were all consistent.
This is not the first tragedy for the family. In June of 2010, their 13-year-old son was backing out of his driveway on an ATV when he was struck by a grain truck. He died a week later at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
