(ABC 6 NEWS) -- A Minnesota State Trooper is Rochester after his squad car was rear-ended Tuesday morning. He is expected to be released from Saint Marys Hospital this afternoon.
Authorities say 48-year-old Lt. Dan Lewis was in his vehicle on Highway 52 Southbound at County Road 9 in Goodhue County investigating a car that had just spun off the road. He was wearing his seatbelt. The passenger who had just spun off the road was buckled in the backseat of the squad car.
The State Patrol says another car on Highway 52 lost control and hit Lt. Lewis' squad. The passenger in the back denied medical attention. Lt. Lewis felt neck and back pain and was taken to Saint Marys Hospital.
The car that hit Lt. Lewis was driven by 42-year-old Anna Porycky. She suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Saint Marys.
Icy roads are to blame. ABC 6 News has learned Lt. Lewis has been hit in his squad car eleven times. He's been a Minnesota State Trooper since 1986.
