(ABC 6 NEWS) -- The polls have closed, and after all of the votes were counted, the race is not over yet.

Totals show Randy Staver has 3,456 votes, followed by Michael Wojcik with 2,193.  Jan Throndson is third with 1,126, and Jeff Thompson has 370.

A total of 7,145 votes were cast.

Although he collected the most votes, Staver was not able to reach the 50% plus 1 vote threshold needed to secure a victory. A runoff election will need to take place, between Staver and Wojcik.

Because Staver and Wojcik are both current council members, another election will need to take place in order to fill the winning candidate's seat.
