(ABC 6 NEWS) -- The calendar said Spring but the ground showed Winter for the first day of Spring. A day which typically sees a high temperature of 41º and last year topped out at 69º.
Brian Dolan owner of Dolan’s Landscape Center remembers having the yard uncovered and the trees and shrubs set up last year, but this year everything is still “sleeping in the blankets”.
Wednesday’s high temperature landed in the teens with wind chills below zero at times and much of the blame is on Punxsutawney Phil, the famous groundhog who predicted an early Spring this year. And the hate is flowing, a wanted poster on our Facebook Page for Phil has over 700 likes and 1,800 shares.
Although most everyone is eager for warmer temperatures, some are okay that the start of Spring has delayed including Judith Kingen who says “at least it’s not 77 out so you are roasting to death walking around.”
The Donut Connection is Austin probably has a much better prediction than the groundhog. They have a sign delaying Spring for two more weeks.
