(ABC 6 NEWS) -- For most six year olds, the biggest worry might be school or when they can play with their friends. But Charlie Jensen's worries extend far beyond that. In January, he was diagnosed with Leukemia.
Charlie is a little stubborn, but that stubbornness, could help him in his fight against Leukemia.
"It was a shock because he was so healthy up until then it was just crazy how fast it happened," said his dad Jason Jensen.
In just two days, Charlie went from school in Lake Mills, Iowa to a hospital bed in Rochester.
"I thought I lost my boy," said Jason Jensen.
He started at Mayo immediately. But for Charlie, the worst part came when he was nearing the end of his first round of Chemotherapy.
"When they first put the draining tube in," said Charlie.
"His cancer was in remission and then he had the flu and a staph infection," said Jason.
That staph infection resulted in more than 26 stitches in his arm and another hospital stay. But still, more bad news.
"We lost our house, we pretty much lost everything," said Jason.
Jason lost his house and couldn't work because Charlie needs to be in Rochester. Jason says Charlie has spent more time in the hospital in the last three months than his home.
"I don't sleep, I live on five hour energy and coffee," said Jason.
Their temporary home is the Ronald McDonald House. But due to his chemo schedule, that could only last for another week. After that, the Jensen's will have to rely on each other.
"He keeps me, keeps a smile on my face," said Jason.
There are three benefits planned for the family.
