A bill moving moving through the Minnesota Legislature may increase the minimum wage in the state. It would raise the minimum wage from $7.25 an hour up to $9.95 an hour.
Minnesota State Rep. Jason Metsa (DFL-Virginia) is pushing the bill and accepted Working America's challenge to live on the current minimum wage for a week. He'll have to live on $5 a day for food.
Speaking of this challenge, Minnesota Republicans say "Instead of wasting time on political gimmicks to garner headlines, democrats should be looking at ways to create good-paying jobs."
