(ABC 6 NEWS)--Following up on a story we first reported on in January regarding an Austin woman sending threatening messages over the internet.
We're now learning who those messages were sent to. Those messages involved threats of rape, assault, and even murder. And now, we're learning the victim of that alleged cyber-stalking may have been a celebrity.
According to the New York Post, that victim was Alexa Ray Joel, the daughter of singer Billy Joel.
In January 40-year old Sheryl Finley was charged with making threats over the internet. They were being sent from a Facebook account created under a false name. According to the New York Post, Alexa Ray Joel's father hired an internet security company to look into those threats.
The messages were traced to Finley's log-in times at Riverland Community College and the Austin Public Library.
A man at the Finley home answered the door and said we would have to speak to a lawyer, and added that this information was supposed to be, "hush hush".
Alexa Ray Joel and Billy Joel's publicist had no comment.
