(ABC 6 NEWS) -- "I thought I took the court a little earlier than 4:15 p.m. but I guess 4:15 and it got done at seven," explained Darik Weigel of his monster tennis match.
For three hours last Tuesday, Weigel battled it out on the tennis court.
"It was one of those matches where it was a little bit like a roller coaster ride, he's up, he's down, he's up, he's down, and it went on and on," said head coach Tom Dyrdal.
The senior just barely lost to Owatonna's Evan Mrozek after the three-hour match.
"Unfortunately for Darik it didn't go his way. It's a shame in a match like that either player has to lose because it was a well-played, hard-fought match by both guys," said Dyrdal.
It was only Weigel's second match of the year thanks to the weater. He's also coming off an injury that sidelined him all last year. Weigel refuses to let that be a factor in his game though.
"It's made me a stronger competitor because I want to prove to people that I can still win and I can still do all those things I did before my injury," said Weigel. "I don't want it to weigh me down.
Combine that determination with his love for the game and you have a recipe for success.
