Seven people were hospitalized over the weekend after a serious crash that happened around 5:20 p.m. Saturday on University Avenue just north of Interstate-694 in Fridley.
The driver, 35-year-old Jennifer Teetzel of Minneapolis, had alcohol in her system, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. She is currently in fair condition.
Lt. Eric Roeske said a 4-year-old boy in the SUV was not in a car seat and was seriously injured. He is identified as Omar Mohammed and is currently in critical condition.
Five other passengers were also seriously injured. The State Patrol identified them as 18-year-old Jonquell Allen; 17-year-old Marissa Paulson of Savage; 16-year-old Cache Brown of Brooklyn Park; 15-year-old Delicia Davis and 47-year-old Shelly Labarre of St. Paul.
Labarre is currently listed in fair condition.
Teetzel was the only one wearing a seat belt, according to the State Patrol.
The rollover closed the exit ramp from I-694 for several hours.
The crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.
