(ABC 6 News)-- A Rochester woman dies when she is run over, trying to help a friend.
Rochester Police got a call that a person was pinned under a van Saturday around 6 p.m. When they arrived, they found a woman who was injured and not breathing.
It happened in the 4300 block of 29th Street Southeast in Rochester. Rochester Police say a 59-year-old woman was helping a man tow a car out of a snow bank. The woman was attaching a tow chain under a van they were using to get the car out when she was run over by a 46-year-old man. That man was arrested for Criminal Vehicular Operation and charges were referred to the county attorney.
“Ya know, the investigation is still ongoing, but at that point, what we had was him driving a vehicle, it appeared that he was under the influence of alcohol and she had been injured as a result of his driving intoxicated,” said Sgt. Steve Thompson.
Both the Forensic Mapping Unit and Rochester Police Department investigators were on scene. The name of the victim has not been released.
