Austin Fire Chief Resigns, Planning Move to Texas

(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Austin Fire Chief Mickey Healey announced he is moving down to Texas.

In a letter to the city Friday, Healey says his experience in Austin as fire chief has been positive, but he is looking to work in a larger city.

Healey says he has taken a position as a line officer with the South Montgomery County ESD 8 in Texas.

He plans to finish out his time as fire chief in Austin through June 5th, and then relocate down sound on June 10th.
