(ABC 6 News) - An Austin woman is safe after reportedly being held against her will in Chicago this weekend.

Austin police say a 25-year-old Austin man called Saturday evening to report that his 18-year-old girlfriend was in trouble. The boyfriend told police his girlfriend said she wanted to take a break from their relationship and left with two men and another woman, possibly headed for the Twin Cities.

But later, the boyfriend received several messages from his girlfriend saying she was at a park in Chicago with two men who were playing basketball and wouldn’t let her leave.

Police in Park Ridge, Illinois, tracked the woman’s phone to a park where they saw two men playing basketball and a woman on her phone.

Officers spoke with the woman who gave only brief, vague answers to their questions and did not appear to need help.

Early Sunday morning the 25-year-old boyfriend contacted police to say that his girlfriend had texted him saying she had escaped.

The woman was later found safe at a Chicago police station.

Police have not released her identity and no charges have been filed.
