What was promoted as an environmentally-friendly lawn herbicide has had a devastating effect on trees in Minnesota.

A few years ago, Imprelis was applied at homes, businesses, and golf courses across the metro and nationwide.

Now there's a class action lawsuit against DuPont, the maker of Imprelis, for the damage it has caused on trees. Some say settlements may reach into the billions of dollars.

The product Imprelis was first used in the fall of 2010. The Environmental Protection Agency ordered DuPont to stop selling that herbicide in August of 2011.
