(ABC 6 NEWS) -- At its meeting Tuesday night, The Rochester Public School Board voted in favor of All-Day Kindergarten.
Currently, All-Day Kindergarten is available at three schools in the district; Riverside, Gage and Longfellow. Starting in the 2013-2014 school year, it will be available at four additional sites. Those are Bishop, Bamber Valley, Franklin and Montessori at Franklin.
RPS says enrollment at the four additonal sites is effective immediately. Families that are currently enrolled at the sites in Kindergarten for the 2013-2014 school year will automatically transfer from half-day to full-day status.
Families that are enrolled into Gage Elementary All-Day Kindergarten but live in the Bamber, Bishop or Franklin attendance areas will be allowed to move back to their neighborhood school if they choose. These families should contact the Registration and Records Office.
The district says it is planning to expand All-Day Kindergarten offerings in the future.
