(ABC 6 NEWS) -- A longtime Austin pastor is now facing a series of felony charges. Investigators say he abused his power of attorney over an elderly woman.

Pastor David DeFor faces four felony charges after police say he took thousands of dollars from an 82-year-old woman who suffers from dementia.

Court records show DeFor became the victim's power of attorney in July of 2010, and since that time, records show he and his wife received roughly $11,000 dollars for trips and other items while his church, the Austin Church of Christ, also received more than $15,000.

DeFor told police those donations were simply gifts and that he often turned down the woman's offers.

In 2011 the woman changed her will to include DeFor and the Austin Church of Christ despite the woman's caregivers telling police that she preferred to attend a different church.

Earlier today ABC 6 News spoke with pastor DeFor who said he is "100 percent innocent" and called the charges "bogus."
