(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Fire crews in Austin were battling not only a barn fire but the heat Tuesday afternoon.
The fire broke out around 3:00, off highway 27 on the west side of Austin. Fire officials say a burning pile of brush near the hay barn may have sparked the fire.
Crews were also battling the hot and dangerous temps.
"Especially on a hot day like this with limited manpower today, we're utilizing the excavator to save on manpower and fatigue. It's a good day for heat stroke," said Commander Thomas Schulte of the AFD.
There were no injuries to livestock or workers. Unfortunately this isn't the first fire the family has dealt with. Last year a silo caught fire and burned down.
