(ABC 6 News)-- A disaster hit Haiti just 3 years ago, and still today, people locally are doing everything in their power to get the country back on its feet.
More than 100 runners took part in the 2nd Annual Haitian Hustle 5K this morning in Austin.
Every entry fee will go to support 12 Haitian kids at the Lighthouse Orphanage, most of whom were displaced after the devastating earthquake in 2010.
It will allow them to go to school and enjoy benefits they wouldn't otherwise have.
Organizer Holly Ravenhorst says, "You could tell it was pretty run down and that people were still trying to get their feet on the ground, but I went back this January and you could tell they are definitely recovering."
The goal of the benefit is to raise enough money for all 12 of those kids to go to school.
