(ABC 6 NEWS) -- When it comes to DMC Mayo Clinic is looking for as much public input as possible. One way its reaching out is through a DMC blog.
He may only be a high school student, but Gabe Yeager has a pretty good idea of what people want to see in their community.
"We've been hitting the streets of Rochester all summer to interview the average person and grab their quick thoughts on DMC," said Yeager.
Gabe it just one of the bloggers for DMC. The goal is to get as much public input as possible.
"Community involvement is so important to DMC because over the next 20 years were going to be building a community that's vital and viable and the people play a big role in that," said Karen Trewin.
Trewin is a DMC manager, she says they are hoping social media sites and the DMC blog can give them a better idea of what community members want. They are taking each opinion seriously.
"We're tracking all these things and we’ve got a database, as we move forward with DMC we will figure in what the community told us," said Trewin.
Gabe says the number one piece of feedback he gets is a request for a high speed rail that connects Rochester to the Twin Cities. Collecting public input isn't the only goal, through the blog Gabe has also been able to educate others.
"It’s been an overwhelming positive experience and if nothing else when visitors aren't quite sure what DMC is, it's a unique opportunity to share what's going on in Rochester, " said Yeager.
DMC is looking for more volunteer bloggers. If you would like to help out you can contact organizers through email at firstname.lastname@example.org. or one of the DMC social media sites.
