(ABC 6 NEWS) -- The great Minnesota get together is well under way. While some people come out for their fair favorites, others come to check out what's new.
"I've come every year on the first day," said Adair Tritchler.
At this year's fair there are plenty of new things to check out.
The DNR building features a brand new fish exhibit featuring 5 brand new aquariums.
"These brand new aquariums show five different habitats and teach the fair goers about Minnesota's lakes, they are already a popular exhibit," said DNR spokesperson Steve Carroll.
There's also more horsing around in the horse barn this year with a brand new exhibit called Equimania.
"We have a life size horse skeleton and lots of hands on activities for kids to learn more about horses," said Equimania organizer Nikki Osterdyk.
Of course there's new things to try on a stick, like the Hawaiian Dog. It’s made of pineapple wrapped in ham and baked in pretzel.
"I like the pretzel, not so sure about the ham," said Tritchler.
Other new bites include deep fried olives, grilled doughnuts, and fried pickles and chocolate.
If you don't like trying new things you can always stick to the comfort foods.
"I love getting a new types of heart burn out here, I just have to explore all my taste buds," said Tritchler.
Of course there's many more new things to see and do at the fair.
