(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Eric Bookmeyer Monday announced his bid for a second term as Mayor of Mason City.
He was elected four years ago, and has since implemented tax and spending reforms.
Bookmeyer, 39, is running on the need for a transparent and common sense form of government.
"We held our budgets in line and reformed the way we operated. We fought off multiple attempts to kill Vision Iowa, our wildly successful River City Renaissance. We beat back downtown 'gentleman’s clubs' and political warfare against our businesses. We passed residential tax rebates and significantly increased our rate of economic development," Bookmeyer said.
The only other person to announce intentions to run, is Quinn Symonds.
