(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Wartburg College announced Tuesday it has recieved a large donation from former graduates to support student scholarships.
Raymond and Judith McCaskey committed $11.5 million to what will be called the McCaskey Orange Opportunity Scholarship Program.
“Everyone aspires to make a difference in the world, each in their own way,” Ray McCaskey said. “For us, education is the key to changing young peoples’ lives, and thus impacting our world long after we’re gone.”
Judy is a Mason City native, who graduated from Wartburg in 1965. She was a teacher in the Chicago for four decades.
“We have been blessed in our lives and have always been guided by the biblical quote, ‘to whom much has been given, much is expected,” said Judy McCaskey. “We’ve gained lots of ‘adopted grandchildren,’ our McCaskey Scholars, in the process of providing these scholarships.”
The scholarship fund is designed to help students from the Chicago area with furthering their education.
